The paycheck splitter calculator helps New Zealanders figure out exactly how much of each paycheck should go to different buckets — bills, savings, spending, or any custom categories you create. Instead of guessing, you can see the exact dollar amounts.
1. Enter your take-home pay
Use the amount that actually lands in your bank account after PAYE, ACC, KiwiSaver, and any student loan deductions. Your pay slip will show this as "Net Pay" — that's the number we want.
2. Set your pay frequency
Most New Zealanders are paid weekly or fortnightly. The calculator uses your frequency to work out the yearly totals so you can see the long-term impact of your split.
3. Choose your splits
Start with one of the presets (50/30/20 is the classic) or create your own. You can add as many categories as you need. The total across all splits must equal 100% — the calculator will flag if it doesn't.
4. Automate the split
Knowing your split is half the battle. The other half is actually moving the money every payday without forgetting. That's where PayDay comes in — it detects your pay landing and moves the money automatically.
