Percentage-based splitting
Splits that adapt to variable income
Whether you earn $800 or $8,000 this payday, your money goes where it should. Percentages adjust to any pay amount, automatically.
Sound familiar?
Your income moves week to week
$900 one week, $1,400 the next. A fixed transfer that suited one payday is wrong on the next.
Fixed amounts overdraw you
On a quiet week, a fixed savings transfer can push your everyday account into the red.
Good weeks get wasted
When you earn more, the extra should go somewhere. With fixed splits it just sits in spending and disappears.
Constant fiddling
Adjusting your transfers every time your pay changes is a chore, and one you will eventually stop doing.
Set a share, not a sum
You decide the proportions once. PayDay does the maths on every payday.
Choose your accounts
Pick the accounts you want to split into. They can sit across any of your connected NZ banks.
Set your percentages
Assign a share to each account. PayDay checks they add up to 100%, so nothing is left unaccounted for.
Let it adapt
Every payday, PayDay applies the same percentages to whatever actually lands. Bigger pay saves more, automatically.
One split, three very different paydays
The same 50 / 20 / 20 / 10 rule, applied to three pay amounts. Same shares, proportional results.
Regular fortnight
Your usual split, running as normal.
Quiet week
Smaller amounts, and no overdraft.
Bonus payday
Extra savings happen on their own.
Common questions
Why are percentages better than fixed amounts?
Percentages scale with your pay. On a smaller week you save a little less and never overdraw. On a bigger week you save more without lifting a finger. Fixed amounts only suit a perfectly steady income.
Do my percentages have to add up to 100%?
Yes. PayDay makes sure your split shares total 100%, so every dollar of your pay has a destination and nothing is accidentally left behind.
Can I still use a fixed amount for one thing?
You can. Many people set a fixed amount for a known cost like rent, then split the remainder by percentage. Percentage and fixed rules work together in the same setup.
Is this good for commission or contract income?
It is built for it. If your income swings with commission, shifts, or project work, percentage splits keep your saving habit consistent no matter the size of the deposit.
