Common questions

How do I connect my bank account to PayDay?

You connect through Akahu, New Zealand's open banking provider. Choose your bank in the app, log in on your bank's own secure page, and confirm the connection. It takes about 30 seconds and PayDay never sees or stores your internet banking password. The full walkthrough is in the getting started guide.

Why didn't my split happen automatically?

The usual causes are that the deposit came from a name PayDay does not recognise as your pay source, the bank connection needs refreshing, split rules were switched off, or automation is paused. Check your income source in the Automation tab, then pull down to refresh on the Accounts tab and reconnect if prompted. The troubleshooting guide covers each cause step by step.

Is my bank data secure with PayDay?

Yes. PayDay can see your transactions and make only the transfers you set up in a split rule. It cannot send money to an account you have not nominated. Bank access runs through Akahu, an accredited requestor on MBIE's Register of Participants under the Customer and Product Data Act 2025, and all data is encrypted with 256-bit AES in transit and at rest.

Which New Zealand banks does PayDay support?

All major New Zealand banks, including ANZ, ASB, BNZ, Kiwibank, Westpac, TSB, Rabobank NZ, The Co-operative Bank and Heartland Bank. If your bank is not listed, get in touch and we will look at adding it.
