How PayDay uses Akahu
Akahu is New Zealand's open finance platform. PayDay uses Akahu to connect to your bank, see your accounts and make the payments you set up.
What is Akahu?
Akahu is New Zealand's open finance platform. It provides the connections that let apps, with your permission, see your financial accounts and make payments you approve.
Akahu is a separate company from PayDay. PayDay uses Akahu's service to connect to your bank. Akahu does not endorse or certify PayDay.
When you connect your bank to PayDay, you go through Akahu's connection flow and approve access at your bank. You never share your internet banking password with us.

What is open banking?
Your data, your choice
Open banking lets you securely share your financial data with apps you trust. You're always in control of what you share.
Your password stays yours
At ANZ, ASB, BNZ, Kiwibank, NZHL and Westpac, you approve access on their own screen. No app, PayDay included, gets your password.
Better financial tools
Open banking enables innovation. Apps can help you budget, save, and manage money in ways your bank app can't.

Common questions
Who is Akahu?
Akahu is New Zealand's open finance platform. It is a separate company from PayDay. PayDay uses Akahu to connect to your bank, and Akahu does not endorse or certify PayDay. You can read more about Akahu, including its own privacy notice, at akahu.nz.
Can I revoke access at any time?
Yes. You can disconnect your bank from PayDay at any time in the app, under Profile. You can also revoke PayDay's access at my.akahu.nz. Either way, PayDay stops reading your accounts and stops making payments.
Which banks and providers can PayDay make payments with?
PayDay makes payments only from and to accounts at ANZ, ASB, BNZ, Kiwibank, NZHL and Westpac, all part of New Zealand's regulated open banking system. TSB, Heartland, SBS, The Co-operative Bank, Rabobank and credit unions are not available in PayDay yet. See the supported banks and providers page for details.
What can PayDay do with my bank connection?
PayDay can see your accounts and transactions, and make only the payments you set up in a split rule, between your own accounts and within the limits you approve at your bank. It cannot send money to an account you have not approved, and it never sees or stores your internet banking password.
